Hi there.
My response to this may be a little late: it is indeed possible to connect
the BrailleNote directly to the net via a dsl modem . I found that I set
everything up as a normal dialup connection to my isp, but of course, it
commands my DSL modem to do the connecting. Thus, the Braillenote uses the
ethernet card to connect. I am assuming for the purposes of this that you
have used the configuration programme which Pulsedata supplies to establish
an ethernet connection.
I had a curious problem which in the end was very easy to solve. My html
loading would lock up completely when the second page was loaded after
connecting to a designated sight; either the homepage or any site called up
off the Braillenote. Solved by deleting off the bn all the cookies,
temporary internet files, history etc.
I generally found the installation and connecting process a bit hit and
miss with Windows XP home edition, and my problem of web page lockup was
apparently not common. Eventual success More a process of trial and error
that I got things working properly. Would like to see some improvements to
PDI's documentation on networking, but understand the challenges facing
developing good instructions for all of the networking possibilities out
there.
Keith: Hope this helps.

Keith,
I use the bn with my dsl connection all the time. I do go through a
router, but it should be pretty easy to get the bn to work with the dsl
modem directly
provided you have a network card and set up your directory of services
entry to use the network connection under the list of modems.
Unless the provider uses some sort of proprietary software, I don't see
that there should be too much of a problem. I'm using sbc global here as my
connection to the net.

Has anyone had success using the BrailleNote, version 5.10, with DSL? If
so, let me know and we can discuss.
