Hi PDI,
I was wondering when Keysoft 6.1 comes out if those of us who have the regular
BN's if we have to configure our units for email and Internet. I was thinking
someone wrote in to Pdi about this and said responded with yes. If this is
true I'm curious to know those of us who receive our email and Internet access
through a network connection do we have to reconfigure ours too? It took a long
time to get my connection current connection set up. I had to work with the
tech support people at my service provider. It would be a drawback to getting
6.1 to know I would be without email and Internet access until I had time and
the tech support people had time to redo everything. It seems like a high
price to pay for an upgrade both in terms of time and finances. I am happy
that Keysoft 6.1 is going to be released. I just think PDI needs to think
about does everyone have the time to reconfigure their connections? I
understand it appears to be a Microsoft Windows CE issue. For tho!
se who use the moedem to connect to the Internet and access email this doesn't
take long. For those of us who relied on others to help us set up our network
connections we are at the mercy of those nice people and giving up our own time
to get the connection established. When I got my network connection first
established I had to take off work to get it set up. I would prefer not to
have to miss a day of work just to get Internet and email access. I guess I
will if I want email or Internet access. Having a stable connection by using
the modem or DSL is possible in Guam but it isn't really stable. This is due
to the phone lines. I have my Internet and email services through a local ISP
that provides wireless services. Although my BN cannot curently function in
the wireless capacity it does have the ability to work with the wireless
service provider. I spent a lot of money to get the wireless service and have
been satisfied with it. I would like to keep my connecti!
on without having to reconfigure it.
I hope this makes sense. I would think if someo sighted got a new upgrade to
their PC they would be able to reconfigure it independently or maybe not have
to reconfigure it at all. Maybe I am the only person who sees this as some big
issue. Maybe I am the only person who uses their BN with a network.
I wouldn't mind having to reenter settings into my directory of services. What
I would mind is having to have the tech support people from my ISP have to
reconfigure my Bn to the network. Last time they did this through active sync.
It took several hours to accoplish this task after several attempts.
I would think people who use the BN on a network at work would be highly
inconreeninenced by this issue as well. I would guess that syncing the BN with
a network in a job situation is no easy task.
I hope this is not going to be a major issue like I'm predicting it to be. If
it is just inputing the information in my directory of services that is
understandable. If it is reconfiguring the network connection that seems too
much of an inconveeninence to me just to get a new version of Windows.

Sorry for the length of this email.
Lisa
