Speech on Request also gets triggered in the planner when you press space and 
either dots 1 or 4 to jump back to the last or forward to the next appointment.
It took me by surprise when it first happened after installing the new planner.

I'm not Ann, but let me try to explain speech on request, as it's the mode 
I use most often.  In speech on request mode, you still get the beeps and 
error tones, but other than that, the BN doesn't talk, unless you ask it 
something like to say the current word or current sentence, etc.  I find it 
to be the best of both worlds, where you hear what you want to hear when 
you want to hear it, and otherwise you're not bothered.
