On a second read of your post to ensure that I had answered all parts of it, I thought that, in addition to what I have already written, it may have been useful for you to know how to copy and paste to fields from the clipboard, as you did use the term "copy" in the below post, and as this is undocumented. If you wanted to copy a word or character from your book to the clipboard, and this part is documented, you can enter the Block Commands Menu with CONTROL with B, surround the character/word with a Top-of-Block (Block Commands Menu, then T) and Bottom-of-Block (Block Commands Menu, then B) markers, and then press C from the Block Commands Menu to Copy the block to the clipboard; however, since this is a character or word, an easier way would be, after having entered the Block Commands Menu with your cursor ON (as opposed to being to the left or right) of the character/word you wish to copy, to use the Quick Mark command to mark the character under the cursor, which is READ with COMMA on the QT, or the word under the cursor, which is READ with K on a QT, then press C to copy the marked text to the clipboard. As I said, the Quick Mark commands are in the manual, and they are found under the "Quick Mark" subtopic of "Block Commands Topics" in the index of your User Guide.
Now that you've copied text to the clipboard, the way to paste it into the "Find?" or "Replace with?" fields is to, at these fields, press CONTROL with V on the QT, which will paste the first line of the clipboard into the field (which rarely is insufficient to cover what you want to paste in the field). That command is undocumented. FYI, to copy any field to the clipboard, press CONTROL with C on the QT. That command is documented but only in the Stopwatch section, although it can be used in many different places. Actually, the CONTROL with C and CONTROL with V commands can be used to copy/paste respectively anywhere where the Block Commands Menu doesn't work.
