Hello Anita:

I will try to answer your questions as best I can. You may want to look at
downloading a copy of the BN's Manual from PDI's site to answer some of your
more in depth answers. OK, here we go.

1. There is a setting in the BN's keymail menu called setup options. Under
this menu is an option called "directory of services." Opening this menu
will give you access to the database that stors the records of your email
addresses which the BN will access. You can add, edit, or remove these
services as you wish.

2. The commands on the BT and QT keyboards do not differ in this setup,
except in how the actual words are written (meaning, obviously, that the BT
keyboard uses braille input and the QT keyboard uses a qwerty-style input by
default.)

3. Generally speaking, you can use the same email address which your
computer accesses. With this being said, there are many email services which
are inaccessible by the BN. Among these are hotmail, I believe yahoo, and a
few others. So, if the email address your computer accesses falls under
these domains, you wil be unable to access that email address from the BN.
Similarly, other internet service providers, such as AOL and I believe Juno,
do not have the specific protocol for the BN to be able to dial into their
service. Therefore, if your ISP falls within any of these domains, you will
have to consider changing ISP's or just not using the BN's keymail/keyweb
functionality.

4. I can't really answer your question regarding effected speed because I do
not have high speed internet. I've heard it works fine though.

5. I am not going to go in depth as to how keyweb works, because this topic
is very broad and has many separate subtopics. This is an example where I
think the manual would be your best place to find answers to your questions.
Keyweb is very easy to use, and, if the websites are accessible, useful.

6. The battery of the BN lasts approximately 20 hours. As the battery ages,
this time span will grow shorter, until you must send in your unit to have a
separate battery put in to replace the old one.

7. Yes web braille is very accessible, I've used it many times. To do so,
you simply proceed as you normally would--enter the url, enter
username/password, click on the online catalog, fill in the appropriate edit
fields, select the volumes of the book you wish to have, and save them to a
particular drive and folder of the bn using the space with s (control with
s) saving function. You must make sure to give the volume of the file a .brf
extension, otherwise it will be unreadable on the BN.

8. For more information about the MP3 player, see the manual. It is also
very easy (simplified) to use. You simply press m from the main menu, select
the drive/folder where the mp3 resides, and press enter. Various commands
exist to stop, pause, etc the file. Currently, only a few bit rates are
supported for mp3's on the BN.

9. Yes it is possible to download, save, and run application programs on the
BN. Keep in mind that such programs must be issued by PDI in order to run
correctly on the BN family because off the shelf software is not accepted by
the keysoft system, and no software developer kit exists to date.

HTH, Laura
