HI folks,
Sarah, you are right about earlier version of windows, but since microsoft
is not supporting 9.x anymore and millennium was such a nightmare, and XP
has been out for over three years, I only am looking at jaws under the 2000
and xp operating systems.
YOu are also right jaws does support the braillenote as a braille display,
but not yet the new Brailliant, only the drivers for jaws are given to you
by pulse data.
But for deaf-blind persons the braillenote pk and the braillenote BT units
with Window-eyes offer two way communication, which jaws hasn't yet address
with their pac mate or the deaf-blind community.

Roger,
I'm sorry I keep getting on this soapbox, but I have to correct you in one
small area. The BN family *does* work as a speech synthesizer for JFW,
but only on systems running Windows 98 or ME. This isn't helpful for a
lot of people because WinXP and Win2000 have taken over most of the
market, but you might be surprised at the number of people still using
Win98 or ME. Also, the BN works extremely well as a Braille display with
JFW, under all flavors of Windows that I am aware of. And, unlike the
Pacmate, you don't have to take the BN apart to have instant
Braille. This is good info for all of us who don't have the resources to
dump Jaws and the time to learn how to use WindowEyes.

Subject: [Braillenote] jaws used as external synthesizer
Hi Foks,
In responce to the jaws using the braillenote family of products as a
remote synthesizer, that is impossible.
I am a freedom Scientific dealer along with a gw micro dealer and visuaide
and pulse data, or shall I say Humanware dealer, and FS will not support
their competition like the braillenote as a remote synthesizer, since their
own product the pac mate does not do that.
Window-eyes has been outstanding supporting and coming up wiht new ways of
their screen reader supporting the braillenote family of products, so if
you want to have your braillenote or voicenote work very well with a screen
reader, dump Jaws and get on board with GW Micro's and Window-eyes.
