Hello,
I posted the following message about blue tooth on windows
XP SR2 a few weeks ago. I just got back from sports camp and am catching up
on my messages. I hope that this can shed some light on why the services
are not appearing with the blue tooth.
Hello everyone,
I have made a , what I think is a tremendous discovery with the blue
tooth connection to the PC. I have been having a unbelievably hard time
making a stable, repeatable, and replacateable connection to my PK. I am
using a Belkin class I blue tooth USB adapter. I am running winXP service
pack 2. I installed the software as instructed, on my PC. I did all of the
instructions that Dean and the manual tell me to do. I reset the PK to get
the connection. Some times I can connect the Pk to the pc some times I
cannot. Finally I just gave up, I have not even attempted it for some time.
I now have this Blue tooth dongle that I have no real use for. I seen and
heard about these Bluetooth headsets. I got one this weekend. I found out
that in order to use it with you have to actual have to use the wincomm
drivers that come with most usb blue tooth dongles. I read on, finding out
that even though you install the software for the blue tooth dongle, the
windows default Bluetooth driver in service pack 2 will override the
manufactures driver. In order to over come this you have to disable the
windows driver, NOT REMOVE it. Then update the manufactures driver from its
installation directory. This takes some playing around to get it to work.
Finally I was able to make it work with the head phones. Do not waste your
money to use them instead of a set of real head phones. However I thought ,
I should try the PK with the real drivers on it. Man I wish I knew about
this a lot sooner. I have not had to reset the Pk once to make it work. I
simplely paired the Pk with my desktops active sink made sure that active
sink was set up for the proper comm port. Then went to utilities on the Pk
and connected to active sink. I have not had any problems connecting to the
pc at all. I have done a few experiments like connecting and disconnecting,
and going out of range. I can get reconnected with no problem. I Hope this
can give those of you who are having the same problems, that I was having
find this helpful. I hope that you find it a helpful lead.
Scott

Subject: [Braillenote] connectivity
Hi list,
Thanks Dean for getting back. I think I will purchase another bluetooth
device for my pc as this tdk one does not give any services from the pc. I
am running windows xp service pack 2. When I load the software from my cd I
still cannot find any services.
Just going to do a piano tuning and when I get back I will give it one more
try and I will disable my sygate firewall. just wondering if I should also
disable my windows xp firewall as well.
it's strange as I can connect my mobile via bluetooth to the pc.
Leslie you can use the pk with a wireless card but the only mobile phone
that uses wireless technology is the nokia 95 hundred phone or should I say
pda.
as regards bluetooth via your mobile all you can do is use the modem
functionality.
Thanks Jonathan for getting back and also to Paul.
all this bluetooth is very new to me
all the best and what a grate helpful list we have.
