I bought a charger from Radio Shack for my Keynote Companion because the one
that came with it broke. For those of you who have done this, it's a bad
idea. I ruined my Companion over a period of time. The keynote companion
was the predecessor of the bn, so I'd guess the same thing holds true. My
point is that it might appear to be fine now, but you may be slowly
destroying your unit.

That can only tell in time, Obvoiusly like any other electrical product if
you use the wrong type of power supply etc it can cause other problems in
the future, it might be fine getting a battery from another source that
might be cheaper, but then that battery could cause more damage therfore
costing more money.

source, if one has an sma, does this change anything should the bn become
defective for any reason? There are a couple of us who have wondered about
this. Thanks for any response.
