Hi, I have used both Keynote Gold and Dectalk. Mr. K. Gold has the best "kernel" or pronunciation and I keep my speech set to 8. When I used my VoiceNote as a sppeech synthesizer with WindowEyes, I set the speed to 75. DecTalk has pleasant-sounding voices, but I have to keep the speech rate set to 20. As you can tell, I'm not one of the people who like fast speech--it sounds like Donald Duck!
The only thing I would like changed in Mr. K. Gold's speech is the way capital letters are expressed. I'd like the three options I have in WE: undefined, say cap, or pitch. I can't stand pitch in my PC or the BN--it sounds like the poor guy is in mortal agony. I would also like to see a 1000 or 2000 word limit for the pronunciation dictionary and two other dictionaries--one for abbreviations and one for Roman numerals. If I may offfer constructive criticism, at high speech rates, the decTALK for me is clearer. And I agree with you that this is subjective. Indeed, giving us, the end users, more voices and adjustments upon these voices, would allow each one of us to tailor the speech to our personal taste. I for instence, might be able to tweak Keynote Gold so I could understand it at higher speeds. : : One adjustment that I would like added, but do not see in any of the synthetic or sampled speech is an adjustment on speech inflection. I might turn it higher for fiction, and turn it lower for scientific journels. : : Keep up the good work. : : Sincerely, : Jerry Weinger : : : : : : : > ----- Original Message ----- : >From: Jonathan Mosen <[EMAIL PROTECTED] : >To: Braillenote List <[email protected] : >Date: Sun, 23 May 2004 14:21:01 +1200 : >Subject: Re: [Braillenote] Keynote Gold Speech : : >Hi Linda.
