Dear Maria,

Some slight corrections to your post. On the QT keyboard, the letter to use
for translating into computer braille is c, grade 1 is 1 and grade 2 is 2.

To preserve the codes, the file _must be saved as a KeyWord document.

The preferred reading grade only applies to reading the document on the
braille display. Translation codes must _always be added when a person
wants to _emboss the document in a different grade. The codes will appear
in the embossed document.

That's why I wish PDI could change the way the codes are presented so they
will be hidden and not seen either in the embossed document or on the
braille display unless a person chooses to reveal the codes.

Subject: [Braillenote] Translating Text Documents into Grade 1 or
ComputerBraille Braille Documents

: Note: QT keystrokes are preceded by their corresponding BT dot
: combinations.
: Do the following:
: 1) Open your Text document.
: 2) Press [BACKSPACE with dots 2-3-4-6, then B] [READ with CONTROL
: with B] to access the Braille Settings.
: 3) Press B for Braille Grade.
: 4) You will be prompted: "Grade to use when translating into
: Braille?" For Grade 1, press A. For Computer Braille, press C.
: Your selection should take into effect without you pressing
: ENTER, and you should notice this by the fact that you will
: immediately be returned to your document upon executing the
: proper command.
: Now, when this document, and only this document, is translated
: into Braille, as in embossing, it will appear in Grade 1stComputer
: Braille, whichever you have chosen. Note that this only applies
: to the document you have opened, and you will have to check
: and/or adjust this setting for every document you want translated
: in this way as this is NOT a location where you can Save your
: settings as default. Also note that there is an option at the
: "Grade of Braille to Use When Translating into Braille" setting
: which is Preferred Reading Grade; in other words, at this prompt,
: in addition to selecting Grade 1stGrade 2stComputer Braille, you
: can press P to select Preferred Reading Grade. The Preferred
: Reading Grade option is set in the Braille Display Options of the
: Options Menu, and you set the Grade in the same way as explained
: above (A for Grade 1, B for Grade 2, C for Computer Braille, then
: press ENTER to confirm selection and exit with [SPACE with E]
: [ESCAPE]). HTH.
