I'm so glad this was finally explained to us. Now I understand why you sent
out such a limited number of the upgrades at the beginning. I'm glad that
there are many more shipments set for this week so everyone can get their
new software. thanks again for an explanation, I think that's just what
most of us needed.

Subject: [Braillenote] Further to Yesterday's Message on 6.11 Shipments
inthe USA
Hi everyone, as promised I'm back with additional information on the
shipments of KeySoft 6.11 in the USA.
Firstly, I want to thank those customers who have pointed out what a
significant upgrade they feel 6.11 is. We want to satisfy each and every
customer if we can, because everyone's business is important to us. But
sadly, it only takes a few people on an email list like this to distort
the
true picture, which is that there are many customers using the software
today and enjoying its many benefits. Please don't misunderstand, I am not
saying people who want their upgrades now are being unreasonable. The
customer is always right. We won't be satisfied until each and every
customer is satisfied, but that doesn't mean we should let some false
picture be conveyed. Shipment of KeySoft 6.11 in the US is progressing
well.
This upgrade is highly ambitious, because it does what no assistive
technology company has done before, and that's to upgrade the entire
operating system on the device. For this reason, in the USA, where we have
a very large customer base, we shipped a relatively small number of 6.11
upgrades initially, to ensure there were no significant issues that would
cause customers inconvenience. I fully support this approach, because
people use their BrailleNotes and VoiceNotes to make a living, to further
their studies, and to manage personal data. If the price of keeping people
with working machines is some angry traffic on the list, we'll just have
to
pay it. I can't stress enough that although the upgrade process to the end
user is simple, technically it's one of the most significant in the
industry.
The good news though is that initial upgrades have gone very well indeed,
and we will now be accelerating the number of copies of KeySoft 6.11 that
will be heading out the door. We anticipate that another 400 copies will
ship by the end of this week, so things are moving forward quickly now.
There is a very large number to ship, so we appreciate your ongoing
patience as we deal with the backlog.
While there are some exceptions, broadly speaking the plan is that SMA
shipments go first, then people who have purchased the upgrade, and then
those entitled to it for free as a result of having bought a BrailleNote
or
VoiceNote after 29 June.
We know how much people who haven't received their upgrades yet are
looking
forward to them, and it is really flattering to know that a new version of
our software is so important. All hands are on deck to get them to you as
soon as we can. Thanks for your patience, we value the business of all of
you.
