Hi, Actually, when I brought up the problem the other day, I suggested the change and proposed it as an option. It would be interesting to know just how many really do like having special symbols such as backslash, greater-than, etc., written out in words rather than just displaying the symbols themselves.

This way people could choose what they're most comfortable with. I think this is one of the greatest advantages to electronic Braille. We can all have our Braille our own way. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Don Bishop Sent: Wednesday, October 06, 2004 4:33 PM To: Braillenote List Subject: Re: [Braillenote] translation of symbols in the bn Hi Dean, Thanks very much for checking into this. I would think people would really appreciate having just that much less braille to wade through for no really good reason. I have a manual for an amateur radio transceiver which uses lots of special symbols to indicate parameters, which are required, which are optional, etc., and seeing simply the symbols themselves will make it much easier to locate needed information. Again, thanks for your good work. Don On Thu, 7 Oct 2004 09:26:18 +1300, Dean Jackson wrote: Hello Don, I have spoken to one of our developers as promised, regarding our implementation of Duxbury. What I will do is add the suggestion to our database that we should add to the list of things that we currently look for and leave untranslated. Again, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
