Hello Isaac,

Obviously, I would need to see the exact message that you actually got. However, usually what needs to be done to connect to public Wifi points such as those you mention in your email, is the filling out of a form to which you're taken upon opening KeyWeb, Internet Explorer etc.

You are usually asked to put in a credit card number, though if you're in a hotel, I understand that sometimes all that is required are a few basic details such as your name, room number etc.

Someone who has connected to a public Wifi access point will be able to give you more information if necessary, I'm sure.

Hi Dean,,,,,,
thanks for assisting my sister-in-law Sandy with the research necessary to
purchase both a modem and a wifi card for my PK! I now have both! thanks
for your quick response to Sandy.
Now I know exactly what you mean by a wifi and a modem card. <grin>
but I've found an additional use of the wifi besides surfing the net from
a router or a modem at home.
You can scan for public access networks as well. this is true at
Starbucks, airports, and some hotels and motels. I don't know if there's a
charge for this as I've only made one connection but I didn't hit enter
and therefore I didn't log on. but this is how one would read the online
menus at certain restaurants and bars I'd assume.
But anyway I successfully logged on to Panix using the modem. then it
promptly logged off and there was a quick message that flashed across the
streen. I only caught auth. "auth". So I assumed it was looking for
authentification. I mean Panix was looking for this???
I had the same thing happen with the Braillenote. It longe on perfectly
then logged off and I've been unable to get them to log on again. Any
light on this, Dean???

Hi Isaac,

Please note that these are not modems for the PK I'm listing here but
rather, Wifi cards. You'll obviously need a Wifi device either connected to a modem or router in order to surf the internet in this fashion if that is
what you're wanting to do.

Please find a list of wireless cards for the PK below:

Supported and tested Wireless Cards
Ambicom WL1100C-CF
revision 2 only (serial number WL2342xxxxxxxx)
Linksys WCF12 Wireless CompactFlash Card
SanDisk Connect Plus CF WiFi + 128MB Memory card
NetGear MA701, Wireless Ethernet Adapter, 11Mbps, 802.11b, CompactFlash II
Socket Card Low Power Wireless LAN type I CF card

Compatible cards that have not been tested
Meritline MWL-672 Wireless LAN 11b Compact
Dlink DCF-660W, Wireless Ethernet Adapter, 11Mbps, 802.11b, Compact Flash
