I have the same problem, but discovered that if I send them from my
desktop via active sync, they convert to pocket word documents and open
on the Bn just fine, something I experimented with a few weeks ago when
I had several documents consisting of about 200 pages to get into my BN.

Subject: [Braillenote] MS word question with 6.1

Does anyone know if all MS word documents will be accessible using the
6.1 upgrade. I currently get MS word documents on my computer which I
pull down onto my compact flash card from people who run windows XP and
2000. I have to go to the desktop computer to translate them into a
text file before I can read them on my BrailleNote. If I don't translate
the documents the BrailleNote freezes. Is this problem fixed? God bless!

Hello List,

I respectfully disagree! I think all is not bad with 6.1. Let's talk
about 4.0 and 4.01. One could not emboss a braille document with that
upgrade! The 4.02 upgrade came out rather quickly as a result which
rectified that particular problem. Remember we are also upgrading the
operating system as well as Keysoft! I feel confident that fixes will
occur much more quickly and problems will be identified much more easily
now that 6.1 is in the hands of anyone who wishes to get it! Once 6.1
is installed, the patch to fix things shouldn't take much to fix or
upgrade! I'm certain PDI staff and the bata testers found as many major
items to fix but they couldn't find everything! ISPS certainly function
differently at times and it is impossible to anticipate each and every
situation. Jonathan brought that forth as an example! Needless to say
twiqueing has to be done and I think when most bugs are found,
everything should go much more smoothly! The floppy disk drive problem
will soon be solved with a new driver from the disk manufacturer. I'm
looking forward to the challenges of getting 6.1 in operation especially
for being able to send an receive Email through my DSL service. I'll
probably have more gray hair than I do but I look forward to the
challenge!

You can do what you think is right and that is okay! As for me, I'm
going for it once my BN returns from service with its new battery!
