HI.
The "Wordpad Converter" message relates to the message which the PK gives
when it fcannot convert the fvile I assume it relates to a CD Windows CD
conversion system.
Thanks for your suggestions however I cannot for love nor money access Word
2003 files obviously I can have them converted to other versions of Word
which work fine however this isn'isn't always possible.

Terry,

I'm using a voice note here, but as far as I know, the reading options of
the vn and pk does not differ. However, I cannot understand which "wordpad"
converter you want to use to convert word documents on the pk and what it
has to do with your pc. Wordpad is on the pc and mainly reads text
documents. If you want to open a word document on the pk, which was created
on your pc with ms word 2003 and it doesn't want to open when you just enter
on the file, or put in the correct path and extention, you can do two
things:

Go to the main menu and do a normal reset. After you have waited till it
gives you the main menu prompt again, try again to open the relevant word
document. If it still fails to open, save the document on your pc as a rtf
file and transfer it to the pk, where it should open and all your attributes
should be in tact. As far as I know, wordpad is mainly a text editor and
its default files are in txt format, not in ms word.

If you want to retain and save it in ms word, why not use Ms word on the pc?

You can off course, also save it from within ms word on the pc as a txt or
rtf document. I would recommend that you use rtf, as it never has a problem
to open on the bn family and ms word documents use more disk space, while
your page numbers page breaks, etc. will get lost if you save as txt.
However, I save all books or other documents for which I don't particularly
require page numbers and formatting, I want to read on the vn in txt format,
as it takes less space and can read on any device without having to convert
to a different file type.

The pk/bn family uses keyword to create its default documents, if you
haven't changed the default to something else on your particular unit.
That format can only be read on your pk/bn and you cannot read it with the
pc's wordpad, notepad, or ms word directly.

If you want to create a document on the pk, but read it in ms word on your
pc, use keyword text [not Braille] to create it, but translate it to ms word
via the translation menu before transferring it to the pc.
If you mail it to the pc, you just choose to attach the keyword file as a ms
word file and it will be done automatically, but if you save to a cf card,
you will have to translate it manually via the afore-mentioned options.

All.

Across our company we use Office 2003 and for some reason the "WordPad"
converter will not deal with this format when attempting to read attachments
on the PK.
It seems to like just about every other variation of word.

Have I just got to put up with this or can anyone tell me (hopefully) that
I'm missing something very obvious.

Thanks a lot!
