Dear Allen,

When you download the web braille books to a Compactflash card on your PC,
you can download them to any folder you want--it doesn't have to be the
rooth directory. At the file name prompt, type the drive and folder. For
Example, e:\books\redwall.brf.

The easiest way to open a book, is to press backspace and type c for
CompactFlash card, then type the folder name, then type the book name.

Subject: [Braillenote] downloading ] Web Braille books

: The easiest way to download web Braille is to place the books downloaded
: onto a CF card on the pc and then insert that card into the BN. The
: card will show on the bn as a compactflash.......
: The cf card, when used with the pc, will require the card reader, which,
: when used plugged into the USB port of the pc, will show as another
: drive. Be sure you have the correct drive for the card before
: downloading the volumes of web Braille.
:
: After inserting the CF card into the BN, Enter the book reader and
: backspace to the cf card drive and then get to your books; how the books
: are accessed from the CF card is determined by whether or not you have
: made a folder on the CF card, if not, the book volumes will download
: into the "none" folder. If the none folder doesn't come up on the CF
: card when the folder menue is shown, type it in at the bn prompt with
: the questionmark.
:
: Remember, always save each volume with a brf extension so the book
: reader can read the file.
:
: Kim is correct also, the transfer using active sync works too, just more
: of a hassle.

: Hi: - With Downloading web braille books, I found it just as easy to
: download the books directly to my hard drive, and then do a cut and
: paste process using active sync to the BN. In this way, you are able to
: transfer everything all at once into the directory of your choice on the
: BN. I've never had any issues doing it this way either. All the best. -

: Hi there!
: No, in Web Braille, it's completely different from Bookshare. You have
: to use the "save" command and choose the drive and folder or directory
: you want. One thing I find annoying is that no matter how many times you
: choose differently, when you download a book in Web Braille, the bn
: always assumes you want the General folder on the flash disk. In other
: parts of Keysoft, when you copy or move a file for example, it assumes
: the last drives and folders or directories you used. Why then this thing
: in Web Braille? Every time you save a volume, and you must save one
: volume at a time, quite a tedious task when you have a ten volume book,
: do you constantly have to go in and change the drive, folder or
: directory, and on and on? It just adds to the workload. What about it
: Jonathan, is there some way to make the bn remember what folder you last
: loaded a book into instead of having it assume you want General on the
: flash disk?
:
: thanks and hth
