OK, lets take this one step at a time. Road Runner, at least in Rochester, NY, has dial-up. You have to go to the web site and sign up. As far as I know it's free. Ask them about the web site. I don't remember it. I wrote it down someplace. If I find it, I will let you know. Seems that you're mixing up a couple of things. I'm proceeding step by step here. The second step I'm making is to explain that you can receive email on your BrailleNote using Road Runner. You can do this in two ways. The first way is by using a cable to connect the BrailleNote to the cable modem. this is done by using an Ethernet card. You have to buy this for the BrailleNote. The ethernet card they recommend is the socket ruggedized one from www.socketcom.com Now, if you want to receive email on the BrailleNote while you are outside your house, like in the back yard or on the patio, you need a wireless network card. You have to buy this card from Amazon or from Ebay or Pricewatch or your local computer store. Humanware recommends the Ambicom (sp) card that is for a B. wireless network. Also, if you want to go wireless, you have to buy a piece of equipment called a router. It can route signals from your computer and from your BrailleNote to the Internet by using the Road Runner Modem. The simplest solution to your problem, I think is to get the ethernet card, connect to the Road Runner modem, download your mail, disconnect the cable from the ethernet card and take your BN outside. Read your mail, answer it, and then go back in the house and reconnect the BN to the Road Runner Modem. You could just go to Radio Shack and get a phone cord, if you found out the local number for Road Runner, and then you could connect the BN to your phone and dial using the BN's internal modem. There are many solutions to your problem, Matt. Maybe that is what is so confusing you?
