Yes Ma'am, Eloquence for JAWS is the default. Should have said that. Susie

Thanks for clarifying, BTW. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Susan Stage" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 22, 2005 4:54 PM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] did you know Okay, Jane, I asked the guy in the next office, who is our resident JAWS expert. If you press Control-Insert-S, you are in a list of synthesizers; one choice is "no speech." If you choose that, Eloquence or whatever you are using will stop talking. Then when you want it to start talking again, press Control-Insert-S, then E for Eloquence, and your speech will come back. I tried this; it worked (finally.) When you want just Braille, turn the speaker volume all the way down; all the speakers I know have a volume control. Then when you want the Braille to go away, turn the sound back up and turn off the BrailleNote. JAWS might complain; you may have to unload and restart JAWS if you do this. I wouldn't mess around with putting JAWS to sleep unless you are sure you are the handsome prince (grin) Susie Susie Stageberg Project ASSIST with Windows Iowa Department for the Blind (515) 281-1351 [EMAIL PROTECTED] -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jane Jordan Sent: Friday, April 22, 2005 4:15 PM To: Braillenote List Subject: Re: [Braillenote] did you know Well, speakers are unplugged, and I have a mic and headphone set but no volume, so I'll need to know how to do that, but then wake it up again when I want to use the voice and no Braille. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarah Cranston" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 22, 2005 4:02 PM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] did you know Hi, You will need to modify your Jaws and add the BrailleNote as a Braille display. I like to silence the screen reader voice by either turning down the volume or unplugging the speakers or headphones. If this won't work for you, there is a way to put Jaws to sleep without losing Braille, but someone who knows more than I do will have to answer that one. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Jane Jordan Sent: Friday, April 22, 2005 4:00 PM To: Braillenote List Subject: Re: [Braillenote] did you know How can I set this up with JAWS 6.0? Also, is there a way to make JAWS not talk when I have the BrailleNote hooked up as a Braille display? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sarah Cranston" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Braillenote List" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, April 22, 2005 12:05 PM Subject: RE: [Braillenote] did you know I did the same thing with Jaws 3 years ago. The BN does, indeed, make an excellent Braille display, regardless of one's choice in screen readers. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Terri Pannett Sent: Friday, April 22, 2005 11:59 AM To: BrailleNote list Subject: [Braillenote] did you know Dear List, I did something which I found to be exciting. I use my BN as a braille display with WindowEyes. I wanted to scroll up and down a document by paragraph using the thumb keys. I looked at the braille hot keys and I decided to change two of them. I changed thumb 2 and 3 to control down arrow and thumb 1 and 4 to control up arrow. The new hot keys work beautifully! Now, I can scroll through a document paragraph by paragraph using the thumb keys! The BN and WE make a great combination! Terri Pannett, Amateur Radio call sign KF6CA.
