The only thing we're missing really with 6.11 is Bluetooth and the ability to beam stuff with infrared. That hasn't come out yet.

I love my keyboard on my BT. I have been writing braille since second
grade. I only saw the PK once and there are just to many keys on it. Why
did they make the double space bar and I can not, for the life of me, accept the fact that they took the print/emboss feature away. At least in 6.11 we
would have the print feature and we would have both memory cards.
I think the 6.11 can have wireless so what are they missing that the PK has?
I don't know of anything and the 6.11 has more memory and can print.

The BrailleNote and the PK have vastly different hardware. There is no way
around this! We already had to send in our BN classics to get the
motherboard upgrades when 4.x came on the scene, and I know of very few
people who have either the funds or the time to send away their units for
more hardware upgrades. PDI/Humanware did a fantastic job with the latest
upgrade, and I have never regretted having a BNQT instead of a PK.

Hi Josh and list, I find it very discriminatory that the PK has things on it that the Braillenote does not. Whilst I'm prepared to buy hardware upgrades,
I'm not prepared to shell out thousands of pounds for a new machine. I've
had my BN for four years and for the money I've shelled out on it, I expect it to last for a good few years yet. There ought to be an insurance against
breakage and wear and tear, as us people who bought the machine for work
purposes and now can't work for reasons beyond their control can still make
use of the machine in the future. I use my BNBT every day of the week and
would be lost without it.
Cheers, Steve

I think there is plenty in the manual about using the remote synthesizer.
And some of what your asking we would need a hardware update for. If you
want some of this stuff now, buy yourself a braillenote pk.

Hey!
Okay, I was thinking again, yes, bad sign. LOL Anyway I have suggestions
for
the next upgrade, after 6.1, which I haven't received yet. Anyway, here
goes.
1. Wireless use of the BN with the computer, for things such as remote
synthesizer, the BN as a display, active sink, printing and embossing,
etc.
It would get rid of all those cables.
2. Media player playing live streams, as well as Winamp stations, and
Audible books. The volume needs to be controlled independently so you can
listen to music and surfe the net.
3. Playing Daisy books.
4. The supporting of the file type .kes from Kurzweil. This would also
include being able to summarize documents, read any note you've made
with
Kurzweil, or read any highlight you've made. You should also be able to
make
the notes, document summaries, highlights, etc on the BN and be able to
open
and use them with Kurzweil.
4. Planner, be able to make one appointment for different times, not just
once a week, or once a month.
5. Separate address book for E-mail recipients. The main address list is
to
detailed and often times you don't want phone numbers, just E-mail
addresses.
6. In the stop watch, be able to pre set a time and have the BN go off at
that particular time, its the only feature I miss from the Braille and
Speak.
7. Improve spell checker.
8. Improve formatting and translation of text and word documents.
9. Make a banking program, which will allow you to keep track of your
accounts, and fill out and print checks using your printer, or embosser.
10. Please, update the Spanish software, its good, but you have lots of
bugs
and haven't released an update sense the software was released three
years
ago. Its the best out there, but needs improving.
11. Put more info in the manual about using the BN as a display, i.e.
what
thumb keys do what.
12. Put more info in the manual about using the Remote Synthasizer.
