Greetings:
What it comes down to is safety first. Don't leave open drink cups/containers
near a $5000 device. Make sure you have clean hands, no peanut butter, hand
lotion, etc. I saw a post on this list about waterproof watches for divers.
There's one large problem with that. The divers didn't need to "read" their
watches with their fingers! How can you seal a Braille display!
Frankly, I don't think the case does completely protect the machine, but again
I would urge common sense. I drink coffee at my desk, and I always make quite
sure it is not close to the Braillenote! Why? Because I know I can be a klutz
and I do not assume that I should expect others (like my agency) to pay for my
carelessness.

I don't want a detachable braille display. The built-in display makes the
BN more compact and sturdy. I prefer braille to speech, although the
Keynote Gold synth is one of my favorites.

Like I said before, if a BrailleNote is in its case and the case is zipped
up and water can still damage the BN while it's enclosed within the case,
then the case doesn't adequately prevent the BN from being damaged by water.
Any other cloth or vinyl cover may not be adequate, either.

: Interestingly that was what I was thinking about if PDI decided not to
have a detachable display. Interesting how some minds think alike. Now you
note I didn't say `great minds think alike.` My mind is not great.
: Not as great as some of you young scollars on the list certainly.
: Well this old goat is getting off and going in the kitchen to `graze.`
