When you get on the NLS Homepage, press S. until you see the link that says "search the catalog". I don't add it to my favorites until I see that. That has helped me a lot. After you press Enter, space down about nine spaces for the title, or eight spaces for the author. When you see the author or title, the next bos is for examples, and if you press 4,6 chord, (sorry I don't know the VN part) you can write in your author or title. When I get to the KeyWord box, I write in Web Braille. Then I press my 4,6 chord until I see search button. After it has found what I want, if it has an "http" address, I know the book is there. I log in at that point, then press Enter at the Http location. Hope this is of some help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sherry Gomes" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Actually no, because when I got there, I couldn't remember how to do list boxes on the BN. I'm planning to read that part of the manual today. However, last night, after several failed log on attempts to web braille, I did a reset. Then instead of searching for author and keyword, I searched for title and keyword. I was able to download books that I hadn't een able to download five minutes before. Weird? And is it normal to have to reset so often when using the browser? This happened pretty late last night, so I stopped after three books totally about seven volumes. I'm going to try more today, after I reread the manual about other form fields.

Have you tried leaving the key word section blank, and selecting Braille in the second list box? You'll see it right after the word "all".
Let us know!

Hi Jim,

When I do the online catalog, I entered the author or title, but I also enter web braille in the key words section, so it only brings up books that are available in web braille. I do browse the catalog, when I go to web braille on the PC. However, at my hotel, they charge if local phone calls go over 60 minutes per call, so I have to remember to disconnect every hour. I wouldn't be able to browse much at that rate, so I'm trying to think of books I'd like to read the search for them specifically. Well, if I could just download more than two volumes at a time!

Hello again List,
It is indeed strange that someone using 5.1 should be having this same problem. I could access the list of braille books just fine while using the phone line. Something may have changed on their sight I suppose! I thought the problem only affected those with 6.1 or 6.11 with a wireless connection. I prefer the list of braille books since I could actually browze through them. I have found the online catalob to be tricky to use. One might find a braille book in the on line catalog but it may not be an E Book! The books in the list of braille books are E Books. It is a shame that we are having this problem with that section of their site.

Yeah, I'm using 5.1. Is that the problem? After fighting it for several days, I just gave up trying to download the web braille. I'll just have to read Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings over again till I get my PC and can access my other web braille and my audible.com books again.

I don't have any help, except to tell you I have been fighting the same
thing all day. I've been searching for specific authors or titles. I start downloading a book. Maybe, I get to download one or two volumes, and then,
poof! It just locks up. Can't do anything till I reset. I've also had
another thing happen. When I am able to download, at least half the time,
the page is empty.

Subject: [Braillenote] Web Braille Again?

Hello List,

My wireless card and network seem to be working quite well for the most
part. I have visited a number of sites with no major difficulty! Web
Braille on the other hand is giving me some trouble! I log on properly. I go to the bottom of the web page and locate the lists of braille books. I would select the letter of the alphabet representing an author beginning with his or her last name. I was able to bring up names beginning with
A. No problem there. I tried names beginning with R and my unit has
locked up more than once! I tried authors beginning with B this morning and that letter wouldn't work for whatever reason. Does anyone have any
thoughts concerning the lockup of the BN while on line with NLS?

Thanks for your help!

Jim Aldrich
