I looks like the for some reason the pump was sucking in air. Check to make sure the water intake line is not curved up and going above the water level. Also make sure the water intake tube in the reservoir is not sucking onto the side of the reservoir. If the end the water inteke tube is cut of square then put a small notch in the end of it. Also when the machine is sitting idle make sure the brew lever is in the down position. If it is in the middle position the brew boiler can loose some water through the brew group (slowly) and that would cause the steam to come through the brew group while the boiler is filling back up. Hope this helps. Todd Whole Latte Love
Hey Folks, I'm new to this group and new to my new to me Brewtus II. I got the machine about a week ago and have loved getting to know it. Today, however, I brewed up a nice latte and then went to back flushing and cleaning the group head. I brushed off the group head and put in my blind basket and went to pull and nothing came out. I noticed that the temp gauge had turned off so I assumed there wasn't enough water in the tank...assumed correctly. I then refilled the tank...and maybe spilled a little down the side of it. Once the temp was back up enough to start back flushing I engaged the pump with the portafilter on. It sounded like everything was going as it should but when I turned the pump off not a lot of water came out of the drain spout on the bottom. So I tried again...again little water came out, maybe even a little less. So I took the portafilter off and engaged the pump and noticed that most of what was coming out was steam and the water that was coming out was very sputtery, it was even making bubbles. I'm not sure what happened between the shot I pulled...which was beautiful, my first shot with a naked portafilter, and refilling the tank and trying to clean. I looked at the pressure gauge and it was all the way at the bottom. Where did all the pressure go? I made a video of it and you can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_V1DMVCQOEI Robert **Update** I started writing this yesterday and didn't have time to finish it...and now Brewtus is working fine. But I'd still like to know any thoughts as to what might have happened that any of you might have.
