Hi all,
If you recall from my posts a couple weeks, I had a problem with the temp controller and had to decide whether to go with the replacement of the original or pay big dough for the upgrade to digital. I checked around and the consensus was most people could not tell any difference in the quality of their shots, so I went with the original temp controller. WLL no longer sells that part, of course, and refers you to a company in Canada: Furneco, along with a part number. WLL tells you that the part is $50. Turns out, it's $83 and the shipping is another $30+. Ended up to be $118. Installation was pretty straightforward, just had to THOROUGHLY read every little note in the Description and Parameters Messages section of the instructions, and once again, swimming in espresso. Here's the rub, and where my question lies (buried in melodrama). The spec sheet "says" the temp controller is supposed to have a +/- 1 deg. tolerance. But since I've installed it, the temp varies +/- 4 degrees! Previously, the machine could sit on all day and I'd never see anything but 95 deg.'s. Now it is constantly oscillating between 92 to 99 deg's. I have tried every tweak I can think of on the settings, but no change. +/- 4 degrees. My steam gage sits about 1.0 bar, sometimes a little less, but steam and hot water seems normal. The shots are much improved. But if I pull one when the temp is 98+ or 92-, it is noticeably less palatable. I called WLL and got an unusual brush-off, "not my part, not my problem". Really, no help at all. I have half a dozen calls in to Furneco, with promises of a return phone call from their technician, and never a response. Do any of you guys have any ideas?
