Did the pump go on?

If it did, maybe the steam boiler didn't need water, if it didn't then there is another problem.

Can you take the case off and see if a wire fell off when you moved it?

If you get the case off can you pull the level sense wire and see if the pump turns on?

Do you have a voltmeter?

Normally if the steam boiler needs water nothing will heat and the pump will constantly run.
