> Descale method

I really like the Durgol decalcifier in the black bottle with the orange
lid. I found the best price thru Amazon and I buy enough for several uses
since it's much cheaper to buy in quantity.

I took my method from the 1st Line Equipment web site and was going to post
a link but the instructions aren't there anymore. Allow an hour at least.

1) Mix 1 bottle Durgol with one quart water. If your machine is really
overdue for this you can mix 2 bottles with 1.5 quarts water.
2) Empty your water tank, (remove the softener if there's one on your inlet
tube), and pour in the cleaner solution.
3) Raise lever and run enough water to pull in half the solution and allow
the machine time to come up to full temp and then sit for 15-20 minutes at
temp.
4) Run a couple ounces thru the brew head.
At this point you COULD tilt the machine back and forth to get the solution
to the top of the boiler.
5) Take the water inlet tube out of the tank and let it hang into a cup to
catch the drips.
6) Fully open the hot water wand valve and let it blast out at full force
into a large cup, (I use a 44 ounce Big Gulp cup beside the machine).
7) IMMEDIATELY when you hear the pump start to run dry, (you'll know by the
sound), shut off the machine's power switch.
8) With the power off, and the water valve still open, let the water
continue to spew out until the boiler is done spitting and is empty.
9) Close the valve and place the water inlet tube back in the tank and then
you can turn the power back on.
10) The pump will suck in more solution until the boiler is full again.
Add water if necessary to keep the tank from going empty.
11) Let it set another 15-20 minutes and repeat steps 4 thru 9 once more
with the cleaning solution.
12) Rinse and fill the tank with clear water and repeat steps 4 thru
9. Rinse two or three more times and you're done!

Your lever may feel a bit stiff the next time you draw a shot, this is
normal. It will work smoothly after some coffee oils have passed thru the
head.
