I've gotten some good repairs tips here, so this is one I'm happy to give back. The flimsy thin fiberglass insulator on a Brewtus boiler can be nicely replaced with a high temperature jacket intended for exhaust shielding in cars. Here are pics of the result. I got this jacket at an O'reilly store, but I suspect any auto parts store will do. It fit perfectly and has a Velcro fastener so no tie wraps or wire is need to keep it place.
