Brian's thread reminded me--I recently ordered one of the fancy-schmancy precision group screens ($30, from Chris' Coffee), which follows the same basic idea as the VST precision baskets (which I also use, and their ridiculously priced tamper, which I admit I totally love).
I did my usual six-month cleaning before installing the screen (something past six months, ahem...) and as part of that I usually soak the portafilter and baskets in Cafiza. Well, I was alarmed to note that the center 1/3 or so of holes in my super-duper-precise-with-included-microscopic-hole-photo VST basket are enlarged. And I mean enough so that I can easily see, with my naked eye, that they're bigger. So much for the benefits of all that precision. Is this possible? I mean, Danny Glover once said, "A steady drip of water will wear a hole in a rock", so it has to be true, right? (Name the movie for bonus points). I will contact VST as well, but curious whether anyone else has seen this?
