Hey Chris. My B2 (and I think all of them) came with a vibration pump. I'll
add photos below of that and a rotary pump. In my experience with the vibe
pumps, I found that they did in fact wear out, especially if the pump was run
dry. My reservoir switch (the one that turns off power if the reservoir runs
dry) came wired backwards from the factory, which I didn't know until I had
killed a couple of pumps and we finally found it. Also, the overpressure valve
(OPV) lost seals a time or two and replacing the OPV or the seals fixed that
problem.

I did have similar symptoms to you on several occasions, and though I don't
remember the specifics, I do remember that it was always pump or OPV that fixed
it. I switched to a rotary pump (with it's own pressure setting) about 5 years
ago, and I think I have my old OPVs and pumps and would be happy to send them
to you if you'd like to try them.

I'd also start by checking to see that when you lift the reservoir, power is
cut to the machine. If not, you need to switch the wires below the reservoir.
Along similar lines, I never used the water softener on the pickup line in the
reservoir, and once discovered that my intake line was floating, so it was
sucking air and I killed a pump that way too. It needs some sort of weight if
you don't use the softener cartridge.

All best,
Ben McCafferty
