Hi StevieG-- I have the same bottomless PF, that logo is for Rancilio. I've also had mine for almost the whole time I've had the espresso machine, but negligible wear on the ears. I noted on the bag from a gasket a long time ago: "8.5 is a better fit than 8". The 8 lets it go too far, almost passing the dogs and falling out; the 9 is too tight and doesn't allow great engagement. But, I've used all 3 successfully many times over the years. best, bmc
