WRT the thickness of the gasket, other than determining the space between the coffee and the water dispersing screen, is there any reason to worry about 0.5 mm other than that? I have slight differences in thickness of the baskets/portafilters that I use and other than that slight difference in depth, I can't think of any other reason to worry about the thickness of the gasket (unless one is obsessive about wanting the handle at 6 o'clock...).
