I have a different solution for this. I use a timer on my Brewtus. I've
read and heard elsewhere that you should never use a timer but I do that
anyway.

The timer I use is WIFI equipped and links to my phone. It is an iDevice
product. The great thing is I can turn on my espresso machine remotely
using my phone so it's hot by the time I get home. I can also check its
status (on or off) remotely as well. Since it's Siri equipped, I can use
voice commands in the car to turn on the espresso machine. All very nice.

I'm not sure why I heard you should not use a time nor do I know the logic
behind it.
