I use a paint can opener to remove the screen and gasket, and find that the 
curved end is also perfect for pushing the new (or cleaned) one back into 
place.

The screen is likely the first step to deal with - I can tell when mine is 
dirty because the shots get bitter.  Otherwise it is a good idea to clean 
them weekly by soaking in Cafiza and cleaning with a group head brush or 
toothbrush, then using a blind (solid no holes) basket with Cafiza to clean 
the e61 assembly.
