Hello guys, I am the opposite of a fair-weather-friend, I know. I purchased this Brewtus II new, back in July 2008 and it really has been quite a reliable machine. Pulling 12 to 16 shots every day in those 9 year, plus hot water for teas and what not. Amazing. Of course there have been a few maintenance issues, many this group has helped me with without even knowing it. But finally this one has me stumped.
My brew boiler is not heating. The steam boiler comes up to pressure and the p-stat clicks over but then nothing. 1) Steam boiler is working, comes up to and holds 1-1.25 bar 2) P-stat tested, machine cold, continuity to bottom (red) wire. machine warmed up and steam boiler up to set pressure, continuity from top to middle wire (white goes to AKO). Tested with wires removed. No continuity between NC and NO in either condition. No continuity between any contact and ground in either condition. This rules out the P-stat (amazingly). 3) Over limit switches tested: continuity across contacts. red button down. resistance: 4) Heating element tested: 13ohm across contacts (same as steam boiler eliment). Connected wires from the steam boiler to the brew boiler and powered on. Brew boiler heats up. Watched temp rise to 92 before I unplugged it. So this rules out the heating element. 5) Verified all of the wires and connectors. 6) I replaced the temp sensor to the AKO because, although it was working, a) when I wiggled the wires I would get an error code 1 on the display and b) I already had a spare brand new one. Sooo... what does that leave me with? Relay/control box or the AKO thermostat itself? I have gone through the youtube video on electrical debugging but how do I verify the AKO t-stat is switching when it should? Thoughts? -Jeff -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Brewtus" group.
