Thank you guys! Fun story...I went to check it out. The coffee tech that refurbed it and was selling it on owner's behalf was standing outside, crestfallen. Turns out the machine wasnt building up past 8 bar - problem with OPV. Upside - hes going to replace the OPV and do a full battery of tests again, and then we agreed I have the right of first refusal. I guess the first thing due to fail was caught already :P I am hoping he obliges my request to throw in any used naked PF he might have lying around for my trek...
Re: calcification - This is in NYC btw - water is soft, previous owner is in Manhattan so - 10 years of soft water - still calcification still bad you think? I actually looked at the machine and he had it open. What a thing of beauty. Felt the espresso gods wink at me when I pulled the E61 lever, so much better than the GCP push button haha. The tech replaced the PID, the circuit board, the elements, all the tubing, the vacuum breaker, and the gaskets too I believe. @eric - this would make the deal even better right?? This is going to be paired with my Vario - which I did the "alicorn" hyperalignment procedure to align the top and bottom burrs and it produces some really really consistent grinds - so much I dont see myself paying a cafe for coffee anymore unless I know they are really really good (see home-barista "Baratza Vario Super Alignment owner experience" thread) - so I am REALLLY excited to get this Brewtus and see just how good the Vario can be!!! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Brewtus" group.
