The pressure stat is a common failure item on these machines. So long as the machine isn’t blowing off steam through the relief valve anymore, your symptoms are almost certainly indicative of a failing P-stat, or a blockage in the sensing tube the P-stat is installed in.
Be warned that the plastic has been known to become brittle over time and can be a little tricky to remove all of it.
