I've been having kernel panics with my rtl8139 cards (or so I assume). My
machine has 3 realtec cards. I could systematically crash it by downloading
the redhat 7.2 from a mirrorsite (tried enough kernel versions).
After recompiling the kernel with enabling PIO (instead of MMIO) for the
RTL-8193 it doesn't panic anymore.
Could be pure luck ofcourse...

cheers,
Bart
