I'm a professional Linux embedded developer.  Our new product uses Linux in bridging mode and Netfilter REDIRECT to play with the contents of TCP streams proxy style.  I need the device to be plug (in to the ethernet between the router and the switch) and play.  I need an IP address so I was going to use dhcp, but "dhcpcd br0" sometimes causes box to oops.  It seems to happen if I run it right after I configure the bridge.  Also, the machine sometimes oops's on reboot if dhcpcd is running.  So I've resigned myself to modifying dhcpcd to work around the kernel bug that keeps oopsing the box, but I'm having trouble nailing down the behavior that triggers the bug.  After looking at the list archives this seems to be a historical problem, so maybe someone here can shed some light on the situation?
