I have two lans. One is connected to the internet via a modem, linksys router and dsl, the other is connected to the internet via a cablemodem, linksys router and cable. I connected the two lans together via the routers: from an uplink port on the cablemodem side's router to a port in the switch area of the dsl's router. It works fine for a while (about two hours on average , or so) then, I lose my internet via the cablemodem router's gateway and eventually the router has to be re-booted. Eventually the router on the dsl lan has to be re-booted as well. Now, in all events, I still have full view of both lans from both sides, that part works perfectly. For some reason, traffic from one lan or the other is interfering with the router's ability to gate the internet. I was hoping to solve this problem with a bridge: i.e., keep local traffic from crossing the bridge by using a second NIC (eth1) in a Linux box on the cable lan connected to a hub on the dsl lan. Am I heading in the right direction? any pointers?

TIA
