Hey,
Heres my situation, currently I have 9 computers
networked via a 16port switch. I want to hook up a Linux box from the switch and
to an ADSL modem. The Linux box will be setup as a packet filtering firewall. My
main problem here (which led me to the bridged firewall) is that users on my
windows systems use a PPPoE dialer (cFOS) to connect to the through the ADSL
modem. I know that I will have to somehow tell the firewall to allow these
connections.
My Linux box
spec, Pentium 2 300MhZ 256mb two
ethernet cards Intel Etherexpress pro 100B(eth0) and DEC 21*40(eth1). Currently
on the machine is redhat linux 8.0, running minimal services anonftp is the only
service i want running.
I dont want to have to proxy, because that
would defeat the object of having seperate ADSL accounts. If you could
point me in the right direction, firstly how to setup and maintain the
bridge and secondly how to go about setting up the firewall to allow
PPPoE dialer connections.
Thanks,
Gareth
