I have run into some trouble with bridging and vlans. I have an ethernet switch (Nortel 450) that is divided into two vlans. One vlan is for unprotected traffic and the other vlan is for protected traffic. My bridging box is a RH8.0 machine (kernel 2.4.18-14smp, stock) with a dual port 3Com nic. One nic port is connected to one vlan and the other nic port is connected to the other vlan. It is my intention to pass trusted/filtered traffic (using iptables) between the two vlans. I can only get the MAC address of one nic or the other to show up in the ethernet switch, the bridge does not pass traffic. The ethernet switch only has one MAC address so I can speculate that this might cause some trouble. Is it expected behavior for only one of the MAC addresses of either nic to only be visible at one time? Are there any work arounds for this besides using another switch? Thanks.
Andy
