I've massive problems getting a bridge to run under RedHat 8, kernel 2.4.18-14.

I've done the following steps:

- Standard installation of RedHat8
- installed rpm package bridge-utils-0.9.3-6

Network config:

Now I want to bridge the 192.168.net to the 172.23.net and vice versa. Therefore I make the following input:


route add 172.23.64.1 dev eth1
route add default gw 172.23.64.1 dev eth1
ifconfig eth0 promisc
ifconfig eth1 promisc

brctl addbr test
brctl addif test eth0
brctl addif test eth1

After the brctl-commands I can not ping from the 192.168. subnet anymore neither to the 192.168.1.1 nor to the 172.23.66.227 nor to any other address in the 172.23. net.

I've no clue why it's not working.

I would be very thankfull for every help.
