I've got a bridge setup on a P3 800 with 512 mb memory, using two 3com cards. I also applied the bridge-nf patch.

I took 2 other machines and used crossover cables to link directly to the bridge. What I'm seeing is, if one machine sends out about 500 packets a second (1472 bytes each), they all make it to the second machine through the bridge. But if I up that to 1000 packets, I am seeing packet loss (anywhere from 10% to 50%). The cards on the bridge are showing that they're in mode 100baseTX-FD using mii-tool. Now 1000 packets, 1472 bytes each, is just over 10 mbps. So I'm guessing that one of the cards isn't actually set to 100 mbps. I saw the part int he faq about using options=8 full_duplex=1. If I do this, though, one of the cards does not work.

Does anyone know what else might be causing the packet loss? Or what I can do about the one card not working correctly with those options?

(As added info, if I link the two machines directly, not through the bridge, I don't see the packet loss. So their NICs appear to be working fine).
