I setup bridge firewall using 2.4 Xeon CPU*2 at kernel 2.4.21 with bridge-nf-0.0.7-against-2.4.19.diff patch. and the network which below the bridge firewall has so lots of pps(Packer Per Second).
and I have found that lots of packet losses when I sent some pings.
But I have some curious result. Just one CPU works like below.
# ps result.
root 3 32.5 0.0 0 0 ? 2:16 106:38 [ksoftirqd_CPU0] root 4 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? 12:16 0:00 [ksoftirqd_CPU1] root 5 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? 12:16 0:00[ksoftirqd_CPU2] root 6 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? 12:16 0:00[ksoftirqd_CPU3]
# top result CPU0 states: 0.0% user, 88.0% system, 0.0% nice, 11.0% idle
CPU1 states: 0.0% user, 0.1% system, 0.0% nice, 99.0% idle
CPU2 states: 0.0% user, 0.0% system, 0.0% nice, 100.0% idle
CPU3 states: 0.0% user, 0.0% system, 0.0% nice, 100.0% idle
CPU : intel XEON 2.4G*2 (Hyperthreading Support)
MEM : 2G NIC : intel Gigabit *2 BPS : 50Mbps
PPS:about 40,000 pps
Is thie a bridge patch problem or version match progrem or CPU problem?
Thanks in advance.
