Struts-Bridge setAttribute not working

Hi,
 
I am working on a struts portlet using Struts-Bridge.  The attribute I
set in the Action class using request.setAttribute() is not visible in
the JSP.  Furthermore, the error message from valiation is also not
visible.  Any ideas why?
 
Any help is appreciated.
