Hey. Was forwarded this (see below). Thought it might make for interesting
discussion, or at least add a new dimension to the whole issue of the
"battleground" states discussion, as well as a possible point of discussion
for the uses of the Net in civil society, for things like popular
message-sending of the type Michael discussed?
I just hope this site isn't being run by lying GWB conspirators. :)

Kids,
You know I am not the type to send out mass emails, but this
site seems pretty worthwhile. The gist of it is this: If
you would like to vote for Nader but live in a swing state
(like me), your vote for Nader actually does have a decent
chance of damaging the Gore campaign and giving the state to
(ugh) the venal and idiotic GW Bush. The fact is that Nader
has no chance of winning, sad to say, but with enough votes,
he does stand a decent chance of obtaining the 5% necessary
to receive federal funding for the 2004 election.
The idea of the site is to "swap" your vote: If you're in a
swing state, you vote for Gore, and you arrange with your
friend - who lives in one of the states that Bush already
has more or less locked up - to vote for Nader. The idea is
to keep GW Bush out of the White House AND to get Nader the
5% he needs. I think this is a pretty good idea.
The site has a list of swing states and Bush-leaning states,
in case you are not sure. Please forward this on to
concerned parties.
