Joking. Actually yes if that was your question, you had a few in
there. I think in Oregon they are going to try internet voting this year. It
can be done, heck anything can be done, but maybe the real factor would be
the outcry over, ahem, 'The haves and have nots', i.e. the rich white folks
can vote from home while the poor minorities have to go out to vote, ect.
There are probably lots of good ideas about changing the voting
structure but just as many reasons against it. Voting on Saturday or Sunday
because more people would be near their voting places, instead of commuting
to work or school. (When Football is on? I don't think so). Or how about
voting anywhere you can but your vote still shows up in your home area.
(Some vote tampering, but that could be eliminated). Heck voting at your job
site, or school. (Could be perceived as forcing people to vote or, like
unions do now anyway, have an ideological force to vote the boss's or
company's way. Or worse having the TV cameras at the unemployment voting
areas. Who would show up for that?)
Quickly about GWB speeches. I don't want to be an apologist for him
but all candidates are prone to errors. Does Bush make two times or ten
times or a thousand more errors then Gore? Does it matter? I think if I had
to make 10 speeches a day and they all had to sound different but say the
same thing then the words would start running together. I know you didn't
see the debates Gord but the third one had me wincing over Bush's attempts
at jokes as much as the first did about Gore's sighs.
You know I just read your post for about the tenth time and it seems
quite different now, as in my first readings were way too serious. Yes all
the quotes are legit, I've heard sound bites for most of them. Your right
about the e-mail. A friend sent me stuff cutting down Gore, I shot back with
a ton of bad stuff about GWB and asked for equal time. I didn't get it. But
heck they put up web sites debating Picard-Kirk (Picard of course) so
something that is real life should get as least as much attention.
