First prize (a copy of either Asimov's _The Gods Themselves_, goes to
whoever can explain who Les Six and The Group of Seven are/were/will be
(ahem) without looking it up. And I mean THE Group of Seven, people. ;)

I'm hurrying to get this in to win (hey, I love books, esp. free ones (-: )

The Group of Seven is the group of modernist Canadian painters who changed
the course of Canadian art and whose subjects were mostly wilderness
landscapes (at least, that's what I remember them for). They were formed in
the early 20th century and the members' names I can remember off of the top
of my head are Lawren Harris, Tom Thompson, and A.Y. Jackson.

Now, after checking my Quick Canadian Facts, I thought they were formed in
the 1920's, and it confirms that their first public exhibition was in 1920.
And Thompson wasn't a member, as he died in 1917. If he had survived it
would have been the Group of Eight. The other members were: Arthur Lismer,
F.H. (Frederick Horsman) Varley, Carmichael, Johnston, and Macdonald (sorry,
QCF doesn't have the other's names).

As I've never lived in Quebec, I've no idea who Les Six are. :-(
