Now, I am sure all of you wonder what a right-wing publication like National Review would possibly have to say about the Greens, but bear with me here. Levy's premise here, is a response to a very cynically-minded Republican who called for conservatives in places like D.C., New York, and Massachusetts that are safely in Gore's hands, to vote for Nader to get the Greens to 5%. Along the way, however, he makes a very interesting case as to why Nader is bad for the Greens. Only one time has a 3rd Party qualified for matching funds - the Reform Party of 1996. Instantly, the Reform Party's 12 million dollars became the most attractive take-over target in American Politics. Despite having a billionaire and an elected governor in their ranks, the Reformers were pursued by Lenora Fulani's Communists, Hagelin's Natural Lawites, and Pat Buchanan's Brigades. The same thing will happen to the Greens should Nader get 5%. Indeed, the Greens are already split among two party organizations (both have endorsed Nader.) More importantly, isn't it odd how very little Nader talks about the *environment* as opposed to campaign finance reform, free trade, and health care reform?????
