A little leary? Don't combine the flu vaccine with LSD, is my advice. <g>

I get a flu shot every year. I have asthma, which puts me in the high risk 
category.

If you're young and healthy, get the shot - but wait until everyone in the 
high risk categories (elderly, people with chronic lung conditions, health 
care workers) has been vaccinated. We need it sooner than you do.

But there's no reason for you not to get vaccinated once the high risk 
population has been taken care of. It's very unlikely that the flu shot 
itself will make you ill, and it does offer some protection. Even if you get 
the flu, it will probably be much less virulent if you've been vaccinated. 
And the flu itself can be deadly or debilitating.
