Short answer: Black holes are described by the general relativity
formulation of gravity, which is not a quantum theory, so it's not a
problem. <quote speaker="Lovitz, John">Yeah, yeah, that's the
ticket.</quote> In other words, this is an open question that a quantum
theory of gravity will have to address.
